2007 Best in American Living Award Winners

U.S. HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson, in partnership with
Professional Builder magazine and the National
Association of Home Builders (NAHB), announced the
winners of the HUD Secretary's Award for Excellence at
the 24th Annual Best in American Living Awards Ceremony
in Orlando, Florida in February 2008. The three winners,
and links to additional information about each, are:
 
o The Roanoke and Lee Street Housing project, an
infill development in Blacksburg, Virginia that
targets homebuyers earning less than 60 percent of
the area median income (AMI).

o The Falcon Crest project, recognized for its
innovative technology and design of 93 affordable
single-family homes in Palm Desert, California,
available to households earning between 70 and 120
percent of the AMI.

o The Nevada Court project in Denton, Texas that
features affordable homes and guarantees energy
bills of less than $60 per month.
