Panelized Wall Systems: Making the Connections is a new
study conducted by the Partnership for Advancing
Technology in Housing (PATH) and published by U.S. HUD's
Office of Policy Development and Research.

Panelization, a process whereby walls are manufactured
and delivered to the construction site for installation,
continues to advance, making research and demonstrations
of interest to both builders and manufacturers. The
purpose of this study is to understand and document the
approaches used to connect panels in panelized home
systems currently available and in use in the U.S.
Panelized Wall Systems develops a set of Performance
Standard Criteria designed to help builders and
manufacturers in the development, selection, and
application of panel systems.

The authors studied 12 panel systems at length, and used
current codes on connections and system performance as
benchmarks. Additional information can be found in the
full report, available as a free download from HUD USER
at www.huduser.gov/portal/publications/destech/path_panel.html.

The PATH initiative brings key government agencies
together with leaders from the homebuilding industry to
promote advances in such areas as affordability,
durability, sustainability, and energy performance. PATH
is coordinated by HUD's Office of Policy Development and
Research.
