AHS: Updated 2003 Value Labels Package

The value labels package for the 2003 AHS dataset has been updated. You can download the new file from HUD USER, at https://www.huduser.gov/portal/datasets/ahs.html .

The update corrects the format giving the value labels for the race variables. The new coding introduced in the 2003 use two-character codes, even for the first nine categories. Thus, for example the code for "White" is '01," the code for "Black or African American" is '02," and so on.

Since the previous race codes all use single-character values, we defined the format so that it will print the correct labels with both the old and the new systems. Thus, this value label package can also be used with the 2001 survey.
