rural gentrification

I am on the huduser list and received your inquiry.

I am researching a related issue, but it concerns the gentrification of
cities because of the smart growth movement - largely spearheaded by the
children of baby boomer parents who moved to the suburbs and into rural
areas in search of safer and more affordable housing.

I ran across some interesting figures that indicate that, at least in
California, there has been a substantial movement of population into the
suburbs and rural areas between 1990 and 2000. I am attaching the
relevant document from Fannie Mae Foundation.
