HOUSING INVESTMENT

Residential Fixed Investment (RFI) for the third quarter of 1997 was $329.5 billion, 2 percent above the value from the second quarter of 1997 and 5 percent from the third quarter of 1996. As a percentage of the Gross Domestic Product, RFI was 4.0 percent, unchanged from the previous quarter but down 0.1 percentage point from a year ago.
