Fixed Investment and Gross Domestic Product*
Residential Fixed Investment (RFI) for the fourth quarter of 2001 was at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $447.4 billion, 1 percent below the value from the third quarter of 2001 but 6 percent above the fourth quarter of 2000. As a percentage of the Gross Domestic Product, RFI was 4.4 percent, unchanged from the previous quarter but 0.2 percentage point above a year ago.
In calendar year 2001, RFI was $445.6 billion, or 4.4 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. This is an increase of 5 percent, and 0.1 percentage points, over the annual rate in 2000.
