HUD USER has posted a Comprehensive Housing Market
Analysis (CHMA) report for the New Orleans-Metairie-
Kenner, Louisiana area, where approximately 182,500 owner-
and renter-occupied homes were seriously damaged or
destroyed by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005. This
report contains valuable information for builders,
mortgage lenders, borrowers, local planners, Realtors®,
and others who need to keep up with the area's housing
conditions and trends, as well as with rebuilding efforts.

Prepared by field economists in HUD's Office of Policy
Development and Research, the report contains data that
are useful in anticipating changes in the demand for new
housing. The analysis describes the economic, demographic,
and housing inventory characteristics of the New Orleans-
Metairie-Kenner housing market area from 1990 to 2000,
from 2000 through February 2008, and makes projections
regarding anticipated market activity during the 3-year
period from March 1, 2008 to March 1, 2011.

This CHMA, as well as previous CHMA reports examining
areas across the nation, is available
at www.huduser.gov/portal/publications/econdev/mkt_analysis.html.
All HUD USER CHMA reports are available as free downloads.
