Patty:

You're confused because we don't have zones for Detroit right now. As I said in my post, we have zones for areas in "independent" metro surveys. Since 1995, Detroit has been surveyed as a supplemental sample of the national survey. The national dataset has no zones variable.

When Detroit is surveyed again in 2013, we do plan on identifying zones.
