RE: AHS: Metro Tables

Douglas,

My understanding has been that the published tables are produced using un-topcoded data. So using the topcoded variables in the PUF should result in slightly different tabulations than what you see in the published tables.

Subject: AHS: Metro Tables

I am new to using the AHS, and I am trying to recreate the 2013 Metro tables for Florida.

I am having some difficulty. For example while trying to reproduce the monthly housing cost tables for Miami, I have done the following.

From the AHS2013 sas file found in AHS_2013_Metropolitan_PUF_v1.0_Flat_SAS, I choose only those units with a smsa value of 5000.

I then used the zsmhc variable and placed it in the proper category, less than $100, 100-$199, etc.

Then weighted the proc freq output with the wgtmetro value.

Expecting to get table Table C-10-AO-M, Miami. However except for the number of renters and owners, my numbers do not match the values reported here.

Any help that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Also, the tables say see Appendix A for definitions, where does one find Appendix A.

Thanks,

Douglas White
