The new year welcomes two new additions to the
"Comprehensive Market Analysis Reports" series: one that
takes a close look at the Fresno, CA housing market and
another that focuses on Janesville-Beloit, WI.

The Office of Policy Development and Research's Economic
and Market Analysis Division developed these reports to
help guide HUD's operations in a manner similar to that
of a ship's sonar, by providing a better understanding of
a given market's economic and demographic topography.
The factual information, findings, and conclusions
contained in the reports, however, should also prove
useful to builders, mortgagees, and others concerned with
local housing conditions and trends.

Each report contains several data tables illustrating
employment, demographic, and housing trends. Topic areas
found in each report include:

o Household Incomes;
o Population;
o Households;
o Housing Inventory;
o Housing Vacancy;
o Sales Market Conditions;
o Rental Market Conditions; and
o Forecast Housing Demand.

HUD economists develop the factual framework for each
analysis based on information available from both local
and national sources as of a specific date. The findings
and conclusions, therefore, may be modified to address
future developments. The reports take into consideration
changes in the economic, demographic, and housing
inventory characteristics of a specific housing market
area during three periods: from 1990 to 2000, from 2000
to the "as of" date of the analysis, and from the "as of"
date to a specified forecast date.

The Fresno, CA and Janesville-Beloit, WI Comprehensive
Market Analysis reports join 18 previously developed
reports in this series.  Previous reports include:

o Orlando, Florida;
o Lincoln, Nebraska;
o Wilmington-Newark, Delaware-Maryland;
o Las Vegas, Nevada;
o Colorado Springs, Colorado;
o Albuquerque, New Mexico;
o Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton, Pennsylvania;
o Canton, Ohio;
o Lafayette, Indiana;
o Boise, Idaho;
o Athens, Georgia;
o Caguas, Puerto Rico;
o Champaign-Urbana, Illinois;
o Elmira-Corning, New York;
