AHS 2003 Income Limits File

If you have downloaded the 2003 income limits file that I announced early this, week, do not rely on the poverty income (IPOV) variable. There are some discrepancies in this variable that we are trying to track down.

You can get the 2003 annual poverty threshholds from http://www.census.gov/hhes/poverty/threshld/thresh03.html . The income limits file tries to do something more sophisticated, by taking into account the month of interview and the CPI during that month. That may be where the problem is creeping in. Until we announce a fix, I suggest that you assign poverty threshholds yourself, using the table at the above URL, rather than using IPOV.
