Maps of American Housing Survey metroplitan zones are now available for download from the HUD USER web site:

The American Housing Survey metropolitan survey datasets include a variable, ZONE, indicating a sub-metropolitan geographic area. These PDF files are maps showing the location of these zones in each metropolitan area. Note that for many metropolitan areas there are two sets of maps: one based on 1980 metropolitan area geography, and used for surveys before 1995, and another using updated metropolitan area geography and used for surveys in 1995 and later. For your convenience, all the PDF files for the same metropolitan area are included in a single zip archive. For a few metro areas, there is only a single PDF file to download.
