A new report on using small-area estimation techniques to combine the strengths of the American Housing Survey (AHS) and the American Community Survey (ACS) has been posted to the HUD USER web site, at

https://www.huduser.gov/portal/publications/ahs_acs_pub-emergency.html

The report is entitled "Combining the American Housing Survey and the American Community Survey to Produce Information Useful in Public Emergency Situations: An Exploratory Analysis" and was written by Frederick J Eggers of Econometrica, Inc., under contract with the Department of Housing & Urban Development, Office of Policy Development & Research. This research project explores the possibility of using small area statistical techniques to generate for areas not covered by the AHS information that would be useful in preparing for or responding to a disaster and that is available only in the AHS.
