AHS PUF Updates

On Monday, November 30, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Census Bureau made several notable updates to the 2019, 2017, and 2015 AHS public use files (PUFs).

Change
PUFs amended

Updated YRBUILT variable to show individual years for 2010 and later. This will only be done for the national sample 2015-2019. Metro sample will continue to use the same categories that were released.

AHS Codebook Updates

An updated version of the AHS codebook was released on 11/19/20. The following updates were made:

  • COUNTY and TRACT variables were renamed to COUNTY_2010 and TRACT_2010 to reflect changes to the 2015 and 2017 internal use files (IUFs)

  • User note was added for LOTAMT (impacts 2015 and 2017 $0 values)

  • YRBUILT variable was updated to account for category changes

  • Corrections were made to weighting variables:

    • WGTMETRO (dropped from 2011)
    • WEIGHT (added to 2013)
    • REPWGTXXX (added for 2011 and 2013)
    • SPLT1WGTXXX / SPLT2WGTXXX (added for 2013)

  • Browser tab name was changed to “AHS Codebook” from “UCCB ECodebook”

  • Search capability was reinstated for iPhone users
