Happy Independence Day

HUD’s Office of Policy Development and Research and HUD USER want to wish everyone a safe and festive Fourth of July holiday! Our friends from the U.S. Census Bureau tell us when the Continental Congress approved the Declaration of Independence in 1776, the estimated population of the newly formed nation was 2.5 million. This year, the U.S. Census Bureau estimates nearly 314 million people will be celebrating the holiday with parades, fireworks, and backyard barbecues across the country.
