This historic publication is the methodology and data documentation for the Housing Discrimination Study. The primary goal of the study was to produce reliable estimates of the extent of housing discrimination against Blacks and Hispanics in major urban areas of the United States. The first part of the report regards how the weights were constructed and the logistics of drawing the weekly sample. The second part of the report includes how the HDS data were gathered and prepared, and provides instructions and tips for users of the HDS data. Additionally, the report has a series of annexes which contain other supporting documentation, including the data dictionary, survey instruments, and auditor manual.
