Jie Dong

Jie Dong serves as the Director of Risk and Performance Management Division at HUD's Office of Technical Assistance which is responsible for maintaining the integrity and efficiency of HUD's TA Program through annual risk-assessment and tracking and regular evaluation of performance measurement and management systems and processes.

Prior to joining HUD, Jie was the Director of Community and Social Innovation at a national consulting firm where he led its Housing and Community Economic Development practices. His portfolio entailed leading a team of subject matter experts to provide TA to federal and private sector grantees across the country. Under the HUD Community Compass initiative and Distressed Cities program, he provided training and TA to Public Housing Authorities, homeless providers, and small local municipalities. Jie also served as a program monitor for the Office of Community Services at HHS to conduct fiscal and programmatic evaluation of Community Development Corporations and Community Development Financial Institutions that receive federal funding to create jobs in disadvantaged communities. As a DEI strategist and speaker, Jie provided assessment, analysis, strategic planning, educational development, coaching and evaluation services to help organizations of various sizes advance their racial equity and DEI initiatives.

Jie earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a concentration in Social Services and Ethnic Studies from University of California, Davis. He lives in New Jersey with his wife and three children. Outside of HUD, he enjoys yoga, kettlebell training and listening to music.
