  • Assisted housing programs—including energy use in subsidized housing, a comparison of housing voucher and public housing programs, and an analysis of housing choices of assisted and unassisted renters.
  • Housing recovery in New Orleans using data from the recently released 2009 New Orleans metropolitan AHS.
  • Innovative use of AHS data—including an assessment of the physical adequacy of housing, an analysis of housing conditions of low-income minorities in the Southern US, and research on the usefulness of AHS for understanding housing conditions and trends in rural America.
  • Housing wealth and affordability—including housing with negative equality, consequences of the housing bust, refinancing, and rental affordability.

Overview

The AHS is the largest, regular national housing sample survey in the United States. The AHS contains a wealth of information that can be used by professionals in nearly every field for planning, decisionmaking, market research, or various kinds of program development. As such, the AHS Users Conference is an excellent opportunity to get to know the AHS better. Conference attendees will be exposed to numerous uses of the AHS and have the opportunity to network with other AHS users.
