Welcoming Public Input on Research Agenda

Research AgendaHUD's Office of Policy Development and Research (PD&R) invites the public's suggestions and ideas for new research projects to be funded in Fiscal Year 2011 and beyond. The research undertaken by PD&R can be grouped into one or more of 12 subject categories, each briefly described on our research agenda submission page. We welcome your suggestions for new research in Fiscal Year 2011 and beyond, especially in the following areas:

  • Fair Housing
  • Housing Finance
  • Project-Based Assistance
  • Tenant-Based Assistance
  • Sustainable Communities
  • Homelessness
  • Housing Tenure
  • International Comparisons
  • Special Needs
  • Technology
  • Urban Vitality

There's also a general category for comments and suggestions that fall outside of these research parameters. Through this outreach effort, PD&R is seeking greater participation on the part of our constituents and stakeholders in helping to shape our future research agenda. Please bear in mind, however, that this is not a request for proposals. Your participation can help the Department and the nation achieve the goals outlined in HUD's Strategic Plan.

You can find examples of PD&R's currently envisioned research (near-term) activity by viewing a list of our planned FY 2010 research and demonstration projects. These cover such topics as pre-purchase homeownership counseling, homeless families intervention, rent reform, housing discrimination, mobility, Native American housing needs, rural innovation, and healthy neighborhoods.
