Shapefiles showing the American Housing Survey zones in the areas covered by the 2007 AHS metro surveys are now available on the HUD USER web site, https://www.huduser.gov/portal/datasets/ahs.html.

The public datasets from AHS metropolitan surveys identify special sub-metropolitan areas, called zones, which are the smallest areas that can be shown under the Census Bureau's disclosure rules. These shapefiles are intended to be used with GIS programs and show the boundaries of the zones in the metropolitan areas that were surveyed in 2007.

That same web page also contains PDF files showing zone boundaries for a larger number of AHS metro survey areas.
