With more than 23,000 residents employed on Ventura County farms, providing affordable housing in the land-scarce region is a significant challenge. Since 2004, House Farm Workers! has been working with affordable housing providers, local policymakers, and area residents to expand access to affordable housing opportunities for area farmers.

As the country continues to recover from the Great Recession, homeownership remains an important vehicle for building and accumulating wealth. The most recent issue of Evidence Matters explores the importance, and challenges, of homeownership for low-income and minority households.

Finding Common Ground in Community Gardens
Municipalities across the country are putting underutilized lands to productive use through community agriculture programs. In Lawrence, Kansas, the Common Grounds program is working to increase food access and promote entrepreneurship, while reducing the maintenance costs associated with idle land.
