PD&R Needs Your Input!

Dear Partner:

The Office of Policy Development and Research is currently developing our research agenda for next fiscal year and we need your input!

In this era of scarce resources and evidence-based budgeting, PD&R's research program is essential to helping the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development achieve its mission to create strong, sustainable, inclusive communities and quality, affordable homes for all. We have many great research efforts underway, but we are making plans for the key research opportunities we will highlight for Congress in our budget request for FY 2016 (October 2015-September 2016.)

We've set up a new discussion forum on huduser.gov to support this effort and we invite you to join in the conversation. Our research ideas and questions are deeply rooted in our Research Roadmap which identifies critical policy questions and continues to help guide PD&R research investments. Like the roadmapping process, which involved extensive stakeholder engagement, your input over the next few weeks will inform our final proposals for the FY2016 budget.

To facilitate a useful dialogue, we've organized the proposed work by the four strategic goals outlined in HUD's Strategic Plan 2014-2018 and a fifth category to capture projects that cut across multiple strategic goals.

While you do need to register and login to the forum to participate, your feedback will remain anonymous unless you choose to share your name and affiliation in your posted feedback.

Feedback provided by Friday, October 17 will be most useful, but we welcome feedback beyond that date as it will inform our next edition of the Research Roadmap.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Lynn M. Ross, AICP
Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy Development
