Addressing Homelessness with a Tiny-Home Village in Olympia, Washington

HUD User publishes a series of case studies based on federal, state, and local strategies that increase affordable housing opportunities and support sustainable community development. The projects and community development efforts featured in these reports have demonstrated innovation through a multitude of partnerships and initiatives. 

Recognized with a 2015 Rudy Bruner Award for Urban Excellence, Quixote Village has helped to change perceptions of the homeless population in Olympia, Washington. The self-governed 2.17-acre community includes 30 cottages and communal space to offer permanent supportive housing for individuals experiencing chronic homelessness. Quixote Village is now a national model for the potential of tiny-home villages as a housing solution.
