AHS: 2015 Survey Update

The geography shown in the summary tables will be much the same as is in the 2013 AHS tables that are currently available on the Census web site. The geography in the public use file is yet to be determined, but it will be no more detailed than current PUFs.

AHS 2015 National Data Release in November

HUD and Census are tentatively planning to release the 2015 AHS national summary tables on Thursday, November 17th. The national summary tables will be available via our table creator application on the Census Bureau web site, which includes the capability of downloading custom tables to Excel spreadsheets. The survey instrument covers the same range of structural, quality, demographic, cost, income, and neighborhood topics that you were accustomed to seeing in the 1985-2013 panel. The 2015 survey instrument includes topical modules on housing counseling, arts and culture, healthy homes, and food security. We realize that this process is taking longer than in past years. This is due to HUD and Census performing extensive quality control on the new sample.

AHS 2015 Metropolitan Data Release in early 2017

HUD and Census are tentatively planning to release the 2015 AHS metropolitan area summary tables in January 2017. This release will include summary tables for the 15 largest metropolitan areas, plus summary tables for 10 additional metropolitan areas.

2015 AHS public use file (PUF) release (national and metropolitan area)

HUD and Census expect to release the 2015 AHS PUF in January 2017. The new PUF will be easier to use, with fewer relational files and more variables that correspond to the categories in the summary tables. There will also be an online codebook database that will be easier to query and maintain. You will be able to download custom PDF codebooks containing only the variables that you need for your work.
