In the leadership message, deputy assistant secretary for research, evaluation, and monitoring Calvin Johnson discusses the Aging in Place research team's September 2017 trip to Tokyo. This visit was part of HUD's bilateral research agreement with Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transportation and Tourism. Affordable Housing Funded by PILOT Program in Nashville
The Paddock at Grandview, a new 240-unit affordable housing development in the West Trinity Lane neighborhood of Nashville, Tennessee, opened in the summer of 2017. Because of the acute need for affordable housing in the neighborhood, developer LDG Development enjoyed substantial support from both the local government and resident group Nashville North by Northeast. The Paddock at Grandview was the first housing project to receive a tax relief agreement through the city's new payment in lieu of taxes (PILOT) program.
