For 30 years, PD&R has provided objective, scholarly research on housing matters for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers through the journal Cityscape. Topics touch on various subjects that intersect with housing, including engineering, finance, consumer research, law, planning, and many others. Each issue has a main theme, with recent issues focusing on the impacts and challenges of the Community Development Block Grant program in one instance and the impact and potential of Opportunity Zones in another.

SPOTLIGHT ON PD&R DATA

Using Overlays to Enhance the Neighborhood Change Web Map
Released in 2023, PD&R’s new Neighborhood Change Web Map improves access to housing data, including USPS Vacant Address Data and data on households participating in HUD programs. The map allows people to more easily assemble census tract data from multiple sources and display that information graphically. Users can now gain additional insight into neighborhood economic conditions and changes using the tool’s newly added map overlays, such as for Qualified Opportunity Zones, New Market Tax Credits, and other programs.

The project was financed with federal tax credits and also used a low-interest State Apartment Incentive Loan (SAIL) from the Florida Housing Finance Corporation and a federal HOME Investment Partnerships award from the city. The support staff at Swan Lake Village works with residents to help stabilize their lives and become more independent.
