In 2023, HUD awarded $3,000,000 to support the Arizona Research Center for Housing Equity and Sustainability (ARCHES). ARCHES is a partnership between Arizona State University and the University of Arizona, working with University of New Mexico and Northern Arizona University, four HSIs. The ARCHES team is pursuing research across three pillars: (1) advancing housing equality in housing access, (2) innovating housing policy, and (3) supporting climate resilience. These pillars will inform policies to address equitable housing growth and production to support Hispanic and underserved households, healthy homes and aging communities, and housing innovations for resilience in the arid southwest. ARCHES is working with the Southwest Fair Housing Council to connect with community members and ensure research and policy benefit the community.
