This historical publication is the second chapter of the Historic Structures Report Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Building. The purposes of this chapter are to provide a comprehensive history of the design, construction, and occupation of the HUD building’s history. Additionally, it includes information regarding the building’s architectural, historical, and technological significance. The report is based upon primary resources such as the papers of the architect Marcel Breuer and contemporary newspaper and magazine articles.
