HBCU Research Centers of Excellence Funding Opportunity
On April 9, 2024, PD&R posted a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to support research Centers of Excellence at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Through this NOFO, HUD is seeking HBCUs with demonstrated capacity to conduct rigorous and policy-relevant research, develop actionable policy recommendations, and share findings with policymakers, community organizations and other key stakeholders able to implement policy and programmatic solutions to challenges in underserved communities. The funding encourages innovative approaches and partnerships, with grants ranging from $1 million to $4 million for multiple research projects. Applications are due on July 9, 2024.

Call For Entries: 2024 HUD Secretary's Award for Excellence in Healthy Homes Housing Supply
Submit your nominations for the 2024 HUD Secretary’s Award for Excellence in Healthy Homes! Since 2015, this award has recognized agencies, organizations, and Tribes that advance healthy homes while advancing affordable housing, strengthening environmental justice, and addressing climate resilience. In 2024, one organization will be honored for its holistic approach to fostering a healthy homes culture across five key impact areas. Nominations are due May 15, 2024, at 11:59 ET.

Call for Papers: Cityscape Symposium on Landlords and HUD-Assisted Populations
In 2025, Cityscape intends to publish a symposium of articles examining how landlords and property managers shape outcomes for HUD-assisted households. We encourage papers considering the role of landlords and managers engaged with the full range of HUD programs (vouchers, public housing, Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, Project-Based Section 8, homelessness services, mixed-income communities, etc.). Papers may be from any discipline and employ various methods but should be intelligible to a multidisciplinary audience. Articles must be original works not published elsewhere.

The issue’s guest editors are Philip ME Garboden, Crown School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice, University of Chicago, and Eva Rosen, McCourt School of Public Policy, Georgetown University.

Papers deemed appropriate for the symposium will be peer reviewed and may need to be revised and resubmitted before a final decision on publication is made. To be considered for the Cityscape symposium on Landlords and HUD-Assisted Populations, extended abstracts are due by September 1, 2024. For those invited to submit, full paper submissions will be expected by January 10, 2025.
