POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
JOINT CENTER FOR HOUSING STUDIES OF HARVARD UNIVERSITY

TITLE: Research Assistant

GRADE: 53


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:

As member of research team, conducts economic and demographic research related
to housing and mortgage markets for Harvard's nationally recognized housing
research center.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

· Carries out economic and demographic research on housing and mortgage
markets through the statistical analysis of large-scale databases including the
American Housing Survey, Current Population Survey and Survey of Consumer
Finance.

· Participates in policy analysis work; summarizes and compiles data and
literature in the areas of low-income homeownership, community development, and
patterns of urban growth.

· Prepares spreadsheets, charts, and graphs based on statistical
analyses.

· Assists with drafting reports, working papers, and journal articles,
and with coordination of research advisory panel meetings and activities.


REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors Degree in economics with 1 2 years of research
experience, or Masters Degree in economics, public policy, urban planning, or
related field, with 0-2 years research experience. Strong analytical and
communication skills; experience with computers and statistical software
packages including SAS and STATA, interest in housing and/or demography
strongly preferred.

federal data that works together to improve the quality, accessibility, and
usefulness of federal data. This group will be having its 2006 Conference in
