AHS Revised 2003 Dataset Available for Download

HUD.GOV HUDUser.gov
eList

A new version of the 2003 national AHS public use file (PUF) is available for download from HUD USER, https://www.huduser.gov/portal/datasets/ahs.html . This file includes estimates of poverty level incomes and HUD income limits, median incomes, and fair market rents as part of the NEWHOUSE module. With the exception of poverty level incomes, these are the same data as have been available for download as a separate file. The poverty level incomes have been fixed. No other AHS data has been changed. Both SAS and ASCII versions are available.

WHAT IS NEW IN THIS RELEASE
---------------------------

The main purpose of this release is to integrate the income limits and related variables with the main AHS PUF. They had previously been available as a separate download from HUD USER. This release also fixes some problems with the poverty level income (IPOV) estimates that had been on the separate file.

WHAT ISN'T NEW IN THIS RELEASE
------------------------------

No other AHS variables have been changed. Except for the poverty levels, the income limits variables are the same as in the separate file. Thus, there should be no need to redo any previous work.

AUXILIARY FILES
---------------

* The AHS documentation file has been updated to include a new contents listing and descriptive statistics.

* The separate income limits data file has been removed from the web site, as it is no longer needed.

* A new documentation file concerning the income limits has been added.

SHOULD YOU DOWNLOAD THIS?
-------------------------

* If your work does not involve the income limits and related variables, then there is no need.

* If you have already downloaded the income limits file and either don't care about the poverty levels or have fixed them yourself, then there is no need.

* If you want to get the income limits and the (fixed) poverty levels, then yes.

* If you just want to make sure you have the latest version of the dataset, then yes.
