HUD Secretary Unveils Plan to Foster Growth by Pairing Federal, Local Officials in 6 Cities.

The AP (7/12) reports HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan was in Detroit Monday to announce the launch of "a pilot program designed to spark economic growth in urban America by partnering federal officials with local decision-makers in six cities." The Strong Cities, Strong Communities program will provide the following cities with assistance from a variety of Federal agencies: Detroit; Chester, Pennsylvania; Fresno, California; Memphis, Tennessee; Cleveland; and New Orleans. A press release "said the Detroit team is expected to include representatives from HUD, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Commerce, the Small Business Administration and the Department of Labor."
