Specialist: Using Foreclosed Homes Could be Good Idea

The Chicago Sun-Times (1/12, Lulay, 370K) reports that according to a specialist, Aurora's proposed "plan to repurpose foreclosed homes to further fair housing could be a good idea." The city could purchase foreclosed homes, then offer them "at a discount or through other incentives" to police officers, nurses, and others. But, the specialist, Anne Houghtaling, executive director of HOPE Fair Housing Center, "cautioned that the city could not concentrate the homes in a specific area and still be furthering fair housing," as defined by HUD.
