Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities and Villages are two prominent community-centered models that facilitate aging in place. Both initiatives were developed to address the discrepancy between how communities are designed and what older adults need to age in place.

January 2014 Housing Scorecard

The January 2014 Housing Scorecard shows progress among key indicators, with home sales in 2013 showing their strongest performance in several years and homeowners’ equity up $3.4 trillion since the beginning of 2012. Foreclosure starts are at their lowest annual level since 2005 and the Administration's foreclosure mitigation programs continue to benefit millions of homeowners as the housing market recovers from an unprecedented crisis.

Understanding the Challenges and Solutions to Aging in Place

PD&R recently brought together a panel of experts to discuss these demographic changes, their implications for American society, and program models that enable elderly residents to age in place.
