Dayton-area housing projects received $2.6M

Two Dayton-area housing projects received a combined $2.6 million from the state of Ohio.

The Ohio Housing Finance Agency approved the low-interest financing as part of several projects statewide.

The local recipients are:
• Hoover Cottages in Dayton ($2.1 million)

Hoover Cottages involves the construction of six single-story, cottage-style duplexes totaling 12 units for seniors. The planned campus — off Hoover Avenue — features four affordable housing developments with 271 units for seniors and one market-rate development with nine units. It is the second phase of a three-phase plan with a total of 34 units. Residents will have access to bus transportation, walking paths, outdoor seating areas, a community garden.

• Greene County Renovations ($500,000)

Greene County Renovations involves the rehabilitation of a two-story building with 10 units for individuals with a diagnosis of a severe and persistent mental illness. The work includes a new HVAC system and new hot water tanks. Kitchens and bathrooms also will be completely updated.

The other projects receiving funding were Thomaston Woods in Batavia Township, Walnut Court Senior Apartments in Cincinnati and Faith Village and Marysville Meadows Apartments in Columbus.
