Message from PD&R Leadership:
Puerto Rico Addresses
In the leadership message, general deputy assistant secretary for PD&R Todd M. Richardson examines street addresses in Puerto Rico and their implications. Puerto Rican addresses, Richardson explains, require the use of an extra line of information, to communicate the urbanization area of the structure. Because HUD's data systems often cannot accept additional lines for addresses, the department does not have valid addresses for many of the assisted units or Federal Housing Administration-insured loans on the island. Richardson discusses the extent of the problem, and elaborates on what HUD is doing to solve it.

Affordable Apartments in Estes Park Serve Low-Income Workers Affected by Floods
In September 2013, catastrophic flooding worsened the existing shortage of workforce housing in the resort community of Estes Park, Colorado. To alleviate the shortage and to help rehouse victims of the flood, the town partnered with the Estes Park Housing Authority to develop the 48-unit Falcon Ridge Apartments. The $14.1 million project was paid for in part by a contribution from the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program, and was completed in July 2016.
