Message from PD&R Leadership:
A Call for Proposals - HUD's Randomized Evaluation Data
In the leadership message, PD&R associate deputy assistant secretary for research, evaluation, and monitoring Mark Shroder announces a call for proposals for a second competition to access data from HUD's Moving to Opportunity demonstration and the Family Options Study, and describes the two studies. The competition is designed to make data more accessible to qualified researchers and to foster more rapid knowledge discovery.

Explaining the Components of Inventory Change Reports: An Interview with Dav Vandenbroucke
In this column, HUD senior economist Dav Vandenbroucke answers questions about the Components of Inventory Change (CINCH) reports. Based on the American Housing Survey (AHS), the CINCH report examines how individual housing units change by looking at how they move in and out of the housing stock. CINCH data can also be used by researchers to gain valuable insight into the housing market. The next report will compare 2015 and 2017 AHS data.

Affordable Housing in Kokomo, Indiana, Helps a Town Hit Hard by the Great Recession
Opened in 2016, Apperson Way Apartments in Kokomo, Indiana, provides 69 rental units, including five townhomes in the city's downtown. Developed by Partners in Housing and TWG Development, the $10.7 million project addresses a lack of affordable housing created by falling incomes, rising costs, and a depreciation of the city's housing stock. Apperson Way also contributed to Kokomo's economic development by revitalizing a central neighborhood.

Steady Employment Growth and a Balanced Sales Market in the Baltimore HMA
The latest article in a series on HUD's Comprehensive Housing Market Analyses examines the Baltimore-Columbia-Towson Housing Market Area (HMA). The HMA is projected to see steady job growth over the next three years. At nearly 20 percent of the area's payroll, the education and health services sector is leading employment growth. The sales market is balanced; both the rental housing market and rental apartment market are slightly soft.
