How Do Households Describe Where They Live?

In the 2017 American Housing Survey, we asked respondents if they would describe their neighborhood as "urban," "suburban," or "rural." We will look at HUD's motivations for adding this neighborhood description question to the AHS and review some of the 2017 survey results.

We'll also introduce HUD PD&R's new product
Urbanization Perceptions Small Area Index (UPSAI)
