Phoenix to Double Some Energy Rebates

The Arizona Republic (6/30) reported, "Phoenix is trying to hasten spending an estimated $13.8 million in federal stimulus funds on energy-saving improvements in homes and businesses along a 10-mile stretch of Metro light rail in central Phoenix." The piece added, "Rebates will double from $250 to $500 for each of these measures: reducing leaks in ducts, sealing air leaks, insulating attics and installing new shade screens." The city received $25 million from the Federal government, which must be spent or returned by June of next year. So far, Phoenix has awarded $11.7 million.
