City to Regain Control Over Affordable Housing Projects

The U-T San Diego (7/23) reports, "The San Diego City Council is set Monday to take back control of affordable housing projects and funds, which were thrown into some confusion by last year's elimination of formal redevelopment. The actions amount largely to bureaucratic book keeping, as one city entity transfers assets to another." Under new legislation passed last month, "the money and projects can remain in place as continued affordable housing assets and not be subject to a fire sale that critics of the redevelopment dissolution feared."
