New Program Offers Loans For Energy Efficiency Efforts.

The York County (ME) Coast Star (7/28, Mcdermott) reports a new program, the Seacoast Energy Initiative revolving loan program, "after 18 months of delays and stumbling blocks," has launched. It aims to help "southern York County residents who want to make energy improvements to their homes but may not be able to afford a conventional loan." All loans should be used for weatherization, and the maximum amount to be loaned is $7,500. The initiative "is being funded with a $500,000 grant from the Efficiency Maine Trust. It is expected that $400,000 will be used for the loans and $100,000 will be spent on startup, legal and administrative costs."
