Housing Homeless Veterans.

WPRI-TV Providence, RI (8/9) reports HUD "will provide $114,275 to the Providence Housing Authority to supply permanent housing for 15 homeless veterans in Rhode Island," part of a joint effort by HUD, the VA, and various housing authorities in the state. HUD Secretary Donovan said, "Over the past three years, HUD helped thousands of homeless veterans find a permanent place to call home while VA provided medical treatment, case management and other services to address their specific needs. We have no greater mission than to prevent and end homelessness, especially for those brave men and women who risked their lives to protect our nation." This funding marks "the first of two rounds of federal 2011 funding. [HUD] said it will announce the remaining funds by the end of the summer."
