Agency Hopes to Streamline Homeless Services

The Houston Chronicle (12/9, Lee, 444K) reports, "The Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County is trying to eliminate "the runaround" experience by streamlining homeless services." They are "developing a coordinated intake system that would list the area's more 100 social service agencies and their services and programs in an online database." After it is implemented, "individuals or families would go to or call an entry point agency, undergo a quick assessment and then have their information entered into the database. The computer program would then cull through the list of agencies and find the ones that have available services to meet the client's needs."
