Communities face challenges and opportunities for action on many issues that transcend local boundaries and can often be effectively addressed through a regional approach. Regional planning can facilitate collaboration among local governments and foster cross-sector approaches to regional challenges. Regional planning encourages equitable economic growth and sustainable development. HUD has shown its support for regional and multidimensional planning with implementation planning grants issued in 2010 and 2011 though the Office of Economic Resilience. Hear the compelling case for using regional approaches to address many of the pressing problems and threats confronting communities at PD&R’s upcoming Quarterly Update on October 1st.
