This historical publication is the sixth chapter of the Historic Structures Report Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Building. The purposes of this chapter are to provide the information required to stabilize, preserve, restore, and maintain the significant materials of the building. Restoring and preserving the building’s materials and details will not only return the building to its original appearance but also slow the rate of deterioration and extend the building’s material life.
