On May 30-31, 2006 the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association (AREUEA) held its midyear conference at the National Association of Home Builders in Washington. Five professional staff from the Office of Policy Development and Research presented papers at this conference. The authors and their papers are:

• Paul Manchester presented a paper titled "The Effectiveness of HUD's 'Bonus Points' for GSE Purchases of Mortgages on Small Multifamily and Certain Single-Family Rental Properties," at a May 30 session on Residential Housing and Mortgage Issues

• Carlos Martin presented a paper titled "Technology Matters - The Cost of and Returns to Innovating Homes, or Not," at a May 31 session on Home Building Technology

• Mark Shroder and Barry Steffen presented a paper titled "Major Findings from the Report 'Affordable Housing Needs,'" at a May 31 session chaired by Mark on Affordable Housing Needs

• David Vandenbroucke presented a paper titled "Is There Enough Housing to Go Around," also at the May 31 session on Affordable Housing Needs

In addition, Michael Hollar, another PD&R staff member, served as a discussant at May 31 session on Causes and Effects of Housing Prices.
